Privacy Policy

SolveSmart (solvesmart.app) is a small collection of free online calculators and tools. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to data when you use the site. There is not much to it, because the site is deliberately simple — but the details below matter, so they are spelled out fully.
The short version
You can use every calculator on SolveSmart without giving us your name, email, or any account details. The numbers you type into a calculator stay in your browser and are used only to show your result. We do not store them, and we never see them.
We do use two third-party services that most websites use: Google Analytics, which tells us roughly how many people visit and which pages are popular, and Google AdSense, which may show ads. Both of these use cookies. The rest of this page explains how.
Information you give us directly
The only place you can send us information on purpose is the contact form. If you fill it in, we receive the name, email address, and message you typed, so that we can reply to you. We use that information for one thing: answering your message. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not pass it to anyone else.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting and analytics tools record some basic technical information when a page loads. This includes the type of device and browser you are using, the page you are on, the page you came from, and a general idea of your location (usually just the country). None of this identifies you personally to us.
Cookies and how they are used
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. SolveSmart uses cookies for two reasons:
- Measuring traffic. Google Analytics sets cookies so it can tell a returning visitor from a new one and count visits accurately.
- Showing ads. Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies to choose which ads to display and to limit how often you see the same one.
You are in control of cookies. Every major browser lets you block or delete them in its settings. If you block cookies, the calculators still work normally — you may just see less relevant ads.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. It tells us things like which calculators get used most and how long people stay. It does this with cookies and the technical data described above. You can read how Google handles this data in Google's own privacy policy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely by installing Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Advertising and Google AdSense
SolveSmart may display ads served by Google AdSense to help cover the cost of running the site. Here is what you should know about that:
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this and other websites.
- You can turn off personalised advertising by visiting your Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of personalised advertising from many other companies at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu (for visitors in Europe).
Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use their own cookies. SolveSmart does not control those cookies, and we cannot read the data they collect.
How long data is kept
We do not keep a database of visitors. Analytics data is retained by Google according to the settings on our account and Google's own policies. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, then deleted.
Children
SolveSmart is a general-purpose tools site and is not aimed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, get in touch and we will delete it.
Links to other websites
Some pages link out to other sites, and ads may take you elsewhere too. Once you leave SolveSmart, this policy no longer applies. We would encourage you to check the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Your rights
Because we hold so little about you, there is usually nothing for us to delete. If you have sent us a message and want it removed, or you have any question about your data, contact us and we will sort it out. Visitors in the EU and UK have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access or erase any personal data we hold — which, for most visitors, is none.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site handles data changes — for example if we add a new tool that needs different information — this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. It is worth glancing at occasionally.
Contact
If anything here is unclear, or you want to ask about your data, please use our contact page and we will get back to you.
