How much should you tip?
Tipping customs vary a lot by country, so there is no single right answer. In much of Europe a service charge is often included and a small round-up is plenty; in the United States 15–20% is the norm for table service. The slider above lets you pick whatever fits where you are.
Splitting the bill fairly
When a group eats together, the easy way is to add the tip to the whole bill and divide by the number of people. The calculator shows both the total and the per-person amount, including each person's share of the tip, so nobody has to do mental maths at the table.
A quick way to estimate in your head
For a 10% tip, just move the decimal one place left: 10% of €60 is €6. For 20%, double that to €12. For 15%, take the 10% figure and add half again. It is a handy check against the exact number above.
