Terms of Use

These Terms govern your use of SolveSmart, at solvesmart.app. SolveSmart is a collection of free calculators and guides about personal finance and taxes in Portugal, maintained by Usman. By using the site, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the tools.

1. Informational nature of the tools

SolveSmart calculators give estimates. They take the values you enter, apply the tables and rules in force, and return an approximate result. They are not an official assessment, not tax, legal or financial advice, and not a substitute for an accountant, a lawyer or a consultant. An IMT simulation is not the assessment you will receive from the tax authority; an IRS Jovem simulation is not your tax return. Before making a decision with financial impact, such as buying a house, accepting a job or changing tax regime, confirm the figures with official sources, such as Portal das Finanças and Segurança Social, or with a professional.

2. Accuracy and updates

The tables used by the calculators, such as IMT brackets, IRS tables, IAS values and VAT rates, are checked against official sources, and the 'Updated on' date, where shown, tells you when the content was last reviewed. But tables change: the State Budget changes values every year, and standalone laws change rules mid-year. Between two reviews, a page can be out of date. If your decision depends on an exact figure, confirm it with the official source before proceeding.

3. Liability

You use the tools at your own risk. SolveSmart is not liable for decisions taken on the basis of estimates alone, nor for losses resulting from incorrectly entered values, tables that are out of date between reviews, or a misreading of the results. If a result looks strange, check the values you entered and run the simulation again. If the doubt remains, talk to a professional.

4. Acceptable use

Use the site lawfully and without interfering with how it works. Do not use the tools for illegal purposes, do not try to access parts of the site that are not public, and do not copy content in bulk for republication. You are welcome to share links to SolveSmart pages.

5. Content and ownership

The texts, guides and tools on SolveSmart belong to the site's team. Reproducing a guide or a page in full requires permission. Short quotes with a link to the original page are welcome.

6. External links

The site links to official sources, such as Portal das Finanças and Segurança Social, and to other projects by the author, such as FiscalPiloto. We do not control those sites, nor are we responsible for their content or their services. A link is not an endorsement of everything the destination site publishes.

7. Changes to these Terms

These Terms can be updated when the site changes or when the law requires it. The version in force is always the one published on this page, with the date of the last update shown at the top.
